Bhastrika: A Pranayama Technique Can Save You From Corona Virus Attack!

Corona Virus (Covid-19) is spreading rapidly in the world. It started from a place called “Wuhan” in China and now it has spread all over the world.

The more threatening thing about the Corona Virus is that there is no proper medicine on it.

So the only thing left in our hands is to follow some basic hygiene rules and to increase the body’s immune system to fight against these harmful viruses.

Basically, Corona Virus hampers our lungs and respiratory systems. So we have to keep or lung and respiratory system as strong as possible.

Bhastrika is the Pranayama which can make your lungs not only strong but also improves the immunity of the body.

Bhastrika is the best breathing exercise for the lungs and the simplest of all.

If you do this simple breathing exercise daily you need not worry about Corona Virus.
Bhastrika: The Importance

1.   Oxygen Booster: While breathing normally our body intakes 500 ml of oxygen. And while doing Bhastrika it goes up to 5000 to 10,000 ml.

2.   Balances Doshas: Our body has 3 types of doshas i.e Vata, Pitta and Cough. Ayurveda says if there is an imbalance between these three doshas we get diseases. So Bhastrika keeps these 3 body doshas balanced.

3.   Increases Immunity: It enhances the immunity of the body. As we get more oxygen by doing Bhastrika, this oxygen and sugar go into the cells of the body and burns. And we get more energy to fight against harmful bacteria & viruses.

4.   Reduces Depression: Bhastrika Pranayama rejuvenates brain cells by proving them excess oxygen.

5.   Strengthen Lungs: As we do these breathing exercises, our lung muscles get stronger. Due to these no bacteria and viruses can easily attack it.

   Bhastrika: The Process
Sit straight with the spine erect. You can sit in the following asanas to get the maximum benefit of the process.

       1.   Sukhasana:

       2.   Padmasana:

       3.   Siddhasana

  • I usually sit in Siddhasana. Because it is a medium-difficult asana and allows you to keep your spine erect. But if you have a problem you can sit in Sukhasana, important thing is to keep your spine erect and have a firm posture.

  • Choosing a suitable position for yourself make yourself calm. For one minute observe your breath.

  • Slowly take charge of it. Inhale deeply into the lungs. Fill your lungs completely with the air. Excel the breath slowly.

  • The thing to remember here does not fill your stomach with air. You have to fill the air in your lungs and not in the stomach. If you fill it in the stomach you will not get the benefits of Bhastrika.

  • You should inhale by keeping this in mind that you are taking in prana(Oxygen) which will cure all your diseases and make your body completely fit. And while exhaling all the doshas or impurities in the body are going out with the outgoing breath. Focus your mind on these thoughts while doing Bhastrika to get the maximum benefits. Do not think about any other things. Keep your mind focused.

  • You can do Bhastrika with slow, medium and fast speed. If you have any heart or any kind of uneasiness while doing it fast, do it gently. Young people having a healthy body can do it at a fast speed.

Bhastrika: Conclusion

  • A simple breathing exercise done properly can reduce the chances of having many types of diseases. You can boost your immune system naturally. You do not have to take any pill for it. Your breath can do       miracles for you.
  • My kind and an honest request for you to do Bhastrika for at least 5 minutes daily to make yourself strong and be safe from Corona Virus. Stay safe! Stay healthy!
